I. Introduction & Purpose
Project Overview
ClimateResponse is building an open-source, public-facing global directory of climate solution companies — organized by country and categorized using our Climate Response taxonomy, an expanded and evolving framework inspired by Project Drawdown’s 101 Climate Solutions.
What We (Want to) Do
- Accept submissions via a public API and social media chatbots
- Use AI to categorize resources by climate solution type, region, and country
- Assign hashtags and publish approved resources to our global directory
- Promote real, scalable solutions and companies working to bend the curve towards a future
II. Our Focus: Climate Capitalism
“Society’s continued existence requires us to rapidly develop climate solutions with sustainable business models that can thrive without long-term subsidies.”
- Highlight viable, market-based climate solutions with sustainable business models
- Promote scalable, entrepreneur-led innovation
- Expose greenwashing and elevate what works
This is a call to action for engineers, technologists, investors, and founders ready to replicate the public-private climate success stories embodied by solar, wind, and battery.
Why Now?
The climate crisis is accelerating — and U.S. climate leadership is in retreat. Our science is undermined and climate initiatives are dismantled by a government captured by fossil fuel interests. Engineers, scientists, investors, and entrepreneurs must step up.
Meanwhile, breakthrough climate technologies are being developed in countries with stronger policy support, clearer regulatory pathways, and dynamic carbon markets.
This shift creates strategic opportunities for U.S. centric climate tech entrepreneurs:
- Identify high-potential solutions hindered by limited startup infrastructure
- Leverage international regulatory environments that support clean tech innovation
- Build investable, resilient business models that don’t rely on fragile U.S. policy
- Connect global R&D with capital and engineering talent ready to scale
Climate Response aims to help surface and scale these global opportunities — fostering climate capitalism wherever it’s happening.
